Last Day in Town

Well, the weather has cooperated and we had a gorgeous day for going to the Statue of Liberty.

Interesting day. We walked to the bus, got the subway down to the end of Manhattan, walked over to Battery Park where you get the tickets. And we found a line of people that wound through the park. You would have thought God was giving personal audiences the line was so long. But we got in it like the good sheep we are. While we stood in line, we sent Aunt out as a scout to find out if this was actually the line for tickets for the Statue. She came back letting us know that the line for the tickets was elsewhere and she didn't know what this line was for. I went with Aunt and told Leslie and Josue to keep our place in this line just in case. Aunt and I stood in another line for 45 minutes, got the tickets, and found out that the line Josue and Leslie were in was the line you get into AFTER you get your tickets to actually go to the boats. So we did good! Leslie and Josue had moved 45 minutes worth in that line while we got the tickets. We had hot dogs from vendors for lunch while in line, spoke with the fun people around us and enjoyed the street entertainers. We went through the airport security set up that they have now and got on the boat. It was fun for Josue to go out and see the statue, but he said it was shorter and "chubbier" that he thought it would be. : )

After the statue, we got back on the subway and went uptown to the Empire State Building. 25 mile visibility, so it was a great day for that also. Airport-type security here also. Good thing we go to Disneyland a lot, because it trained us for waiting in lines. Aunt pointed out the sites and we took pictures.

The sidewalk was a zoo when we came back down just like it was in Times Square so we decided to go back to the neighborhood for dinner. Exhausted and having to pack for the plane tomorrow we called it a relatively early night.
